Skoda has officially started production of the new Octavia Combi

At the plant in Mladá Boleslav, the official starting shot was fired today for the start of serial production of the Skoda Octavia Combi . Only a few weeks after the world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, the first serial examples of this model rolled off the line at the company's main production plant.

In order to produce the new generation of Skoda Octavia Combi, the production capacities at the Mladá Boleslav plant underwent extensive modernization and expansion. For the production of the Octavia/Octavia Combi and Rapid models, the car company gradually expanded the capacity of the production line from 800 to 1,200 cars per day.

As part of the preparation for the production of new models, the plant in Mladá Boleslav put into operation, among other things, a new welding shop and a fully automatic line for painting the interior of bodywork. A highly modern pressing line has also been in operation since the end of February, which cost the car company roughly 66 million euros . In addition, Skoda is opening a new logistics warehouse these days, enabling faster, more flexible and more efficient deliveries of parts for the production of cars and aggregates.

The new Skoda Octavia Combi is 90 millimeters longer and 45 millimeters wider than its predecessor. The wheelbase grew by about eleven centimeters. The result is a new record offer of space and record spaciousness. No other car in this segment has such legroom and such volume of luggage space.

On request, the Octavia Combi can be equipped with the most modern safety, comfort and infotainment systems, which until recently were common only in cars of higher classes. Nevertheless, the new generation is up to 102 kg lighter than the previous model. This weight reduction and the new generation of TSI and TDI engines made it possible to achieve record consumption and emission values. Consumption is on average 17% lower than previous models. The frugal GreenLine version is satisfied with just 3.3 liters of diesel per 100 km , which corresponds to only 87 g of CO/km.
