The Camaro Z/28 will have a rival – the more powerful Challenger

At the ongoing New York show, the Chevrolet car company revealed the modernized Camaro as well as the all-new Camaro Z/28 , which refers to the legend of the seventies. Immediately after the premiere, Dodge announced that it was planning a direct competitor to the aforementioned Camaro Z/28.

SRT brand director Ralph Gilles revealed: " Dodge will have an answer to the Z/28 soon, but I can't say more details for now". According to all available information, it looks like the more powerful and lighter Challenger SRT8 will probably become a rival. The recently introduced Challenger 392 will offer 470 horsepower, but the Camaro Z/28 makes more than 500 horsepower. Therefore, it can be expected that the SRT will go even further, beyond the limit of 550 horses .

In addition to sending the car on a diet to shed some of the SRT8 's 1,800+ kg, Dodge is also expected to boost the Challenger 392's 6.4-liter V8 Hemi engine. We're anxiously awaiting more information because, as reported back in March, the Challenger is growing compared to the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro quickly, and Dodge seems willing to do almost anything to improve its sales in the muscle car segment.
