Jeep Cherokee in detail

Already a month ago, Jeep released the first official photos of the new generation Cherokee SUV to the world. The design really shocked, but until today's premiere, passions were enough to calm down. Will it stir again after a more detailed presentation?

The design doesn't even need to be introduced. Everyone already knows the front part with the strange layout of the lights, the classic mask and the robust bumper. The rear is similar to the Kia Sportage , but it will offer classic lights compared to the front. The bumper is again very robust, the exhaust tips are also impressive.

The interior is nothing special. I wouldn't be afraid to say a classic within the range of Chrysler cars. The center console is enlivened by a color display , which can be 5 or 8.4 inches, the instrument panel will be equipped with either a monochrome 3.5 inch display or a 7 inch display. We can't tick off excellent in the space box yet, because we don't know the exact dimensions yet. But Jeep has published that the second row of seats is split in a 60/40 ratio .

The Compact US Wide platform, used for example by the Dodge Dart, has allowed the installation of only two engines so far. The weaker four-cylinder 2.4 Tigershark has a power of 187 hp, the six-cylinder 3.2 Pentastar has a power of 275 hp. Jeep is also hiding its dynamic characteristics for now, but thanks to the weight reduction of a considerable 181 kg, it might not be bad. Jeep also announces the use of a new nine-speed automatic.

The most important element of any off-road vehicle is all-wheel drive. In the case of the Cherokee, it will have a choice of three all-wheel drive systems: Active Drive I, Active Drive II, Active Drive Lock. With Active Drive I , engine power is transmitted purely automatically. Active Drive II adds a reduction gearbox and center differential. The latest version is Active Drive Lock , which has a rear differential lock in addition to all functions. And while the first two versions of the drive are available for the Sport, Longitude and Limited grades, the third version is only available in conjunction with the Trailhawk grade.
