Car designer Ferdinand Alexander Porsche has died

On April 5, 2012, the famous designer Ferdinand Alexander Porsche , creator of the legendary 911 model and grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, who became famous as the founder of the famous Porsche factory and as the author of another legendary car – the Volkswagen Beetle, died at the age of 76.

Ferdinand, nicknamed Butzi, was born on 11/12/1935 in Stuttgart and while his father and grandfather were excellent engineers, his focus was more on design. However, he never considered himself an artist, but rather a designer and technically gifted craftsman.

However, his path to creative activity was not completely clear. He lasted only a year at the Ulm School of Industrial Design before being dropped for lack of talent. A bit of a paradox for the creator of one of the most famous cars in history. Under the guidance of Erwin Komend, Porsche's chief engineer, he was able to develop his knowledge and art to unimaginable dimensions.

In addition to the famous 911, Ferdinand Alexander also worked on the racing specials Porsche 804 F1 and Porsche 904 Carrera GTS . In the 1970s, he founded Porsche Design , which sells luxury watches and other accessories.
