After the modernization of the European version of the Kia Optima Hybrid and also the overseas sister of this car – the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid – it was easy to see that the modernization would also affect the American Optima Hybrid .
And it really happened, and just like the European Optima Hybrid, the overseas one offers lower consumption at the price of lower performance . Unlike in Europe, the Optima Hybrid in the USA has a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with a capacity of 168 horsepower under the hood, which works with the same electric motor as in Europe. Now modified with a power of 35 kW (48 hp). The total output of the American Optima system is 202 horsepower .
Like the Sonata Hybrid, the Optima also received upgraded 47 kW lithium-polymer batteries . The new model shows a consumption of 6.2 l/100 km, which means less than its predecessor. Better aerodynamics are ensured by new wheel covers, a new front mask and rear spoiler or reduced ground clearance.
In addition to mechanical changes, the modernization also affected the equipment. The EX level is now available, which has a panoramic roof, heated and ventilated front seats, GPS navigation or audio from Infinity as standard equipment.
