The upcoming auto show in Geneva will see the first episode of this year's model offensive by Skoda from Mladá Boleslav. In addition to the previously presented Octavia III in the liftback version , the Swiss audience will also see a more practical station wagon variant !
The design will definitely impress, but it won't be a real emotional attack. The appearance impresses from the profile mainly with clear lines that are not disturbed by any sharp breaks. The rear part also has a clear appearance, which takes over many design elements from the default liftback .
The new Octavia Combi is 90 millimeters longer (4659 mm) and 45 millimeters wider (1814 mm) than its predecessor, the wheelbase has grown by less than eleven centimeters. This made it possible to increase the space for the rear passengers (they have 73 millimeters in front of the knees) and their luggage. The trunk can now hold 610 liters in the base and 1,740 liters when the rear seats are folded down.
The station wagon will also offer many so-called "simply clever" solutions . For example, a double-sided carpet in the luggage compartment, an extensive network program, numerous hooks for bags, a waste basket, a holder for mobile devices, an ice scraper in the fuel tank cap , a holder for a reflective vest under the driver's seat or a storage pocket for coats behind the rear seats. A welcome detail is the ability to fold down the passenger seat.
Under the hood of the station wagon, the same engines will appear as in the case of the liftback , which should be up to 17% more efficient than the predecessor. The consumption of the most ecological version of the GreenLine is only 3.4 l/100 km. However, in contrast to the liftback, the Octavia Combi will offer the option to pay extra for all-wheel drive , which will be implemented via a Haldex 5 clutch .
