Volkswagen introduced the Golf GTD

Last year in Paris, Volkswagen lured us to the pre-production version of the legendary Golf GTI . It was therefore generally (even considering the last generation) expected to arrive before its diesel brother . However, the opposite turned out to be true.

The Golf GTD was the first to see the light of day. It will share design changes with the GTI, but its diesel heart beats under the hood. Across the stored heart with a volume of 2.0 liters with an output of 184 hp . The maximum torque of 380 Nm is available from 1750 rpm. The number seven also appears in the acceleration to 100 km/h (7.5 s) column, the maximum speed column then contains the number 229 km/h.

There is a six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission . The average consumption with the manual reaches 4.2 l/100 km, while the Golf emits 109 g of CO2 per 1 km of driving. The parameters of the automatic are slightly worse – 4.7 l/100 km and 122 g/km, but they are still very acceptable values.

Design changes include a honeycomb grille , flared fenders, revised bumpers, blacked-out rear lights with LEDs (they also appear on the number plate lights), a diffuser, dual exhaust tips and, of course, a subtle roof spoiler. The GTD rides on 17-inch wheels. The interior will offer a sports steering wheel, sports seats with checkered upholstery and GTD badges on the steering wheel or gear knob.

The new GTD will be shown in Geneva and will go on sale immediately after the premiere. German prices start at 29,350 euros (approx. 745,000 CZK).
