The all-new Mercedes GL will be presented in New York

The long-awaited auto show in New York begins tomorrow, and in addition to a number of interesting novelties, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GL will be presented here. However, we can also look forward to the SL65 AMG and the modernized GLK class. The official presentation of the new GL is planned for tomorrow, but its photos appeared on the Internet yesterday.

It looks more refined, and at first glance you can see more rounded curves than the previous model. While it may seem like it's just a facelift, it's not. The new GL class is built on the extended Mercedes ML platform. The design of the car also developed accordingly. The front part is decorated with new lamps, below them we find a strip of lights for daytime running with LED diodes. The specific model shown is equipped with the AMG package , which complements its appearance with more prominent bumpers and alloy wheels.

Big changes have also taken place in the interior of the car. Here, there is a completely new steering wheel, and instead of circular air vents, the dashboard is dominated by a central panel. Overall, the car looks cleaner inside, the leather seats and upholstery also added to the luxury.

Compared to the previous model, the GL has lost a full 100 kg thanks to the use of aluminum on several parts of the body. It increased in size only in length, measuring 5120 mm (compared to 5099 mm), the wheelbase remained the same – 3075 mm.

The engine range has not yet been fully specified, but the choice will most likely fall on, among other things, a six-cylinder diesel with a volume of 3.0 liters and an output of 190 kW. Fans of gasoline will appreciate the 4.7-liter eight-cylinder engine with a power of 300 kW. All engine variants are likely to be mated to a seven-speed 7G-Tronic automatic transmission, which will transmit engine power to all four wheels.
