Chevrolet has revealed the final look of the SS sedan

Since 1996, Chevrolet has been waiting for a large sports sedan with rear-wheel drive and an eight-cylinder engine under the hood . The moment of waiting ended on this very day, when the American car company presented the sports sedan SS .

The latter is a sibling (even almost a twin) of the previously presented Holden Commodore VF . This also corresponds to the design , which is different in both cases, but the basic lines are similar. It is visible, for example, on the fenders or on the rear lights. The most differences are found in the front part, where Chevrolet installed a completely new radiator grille and also a bumper.

The interior looks different again and the steering wheel and SS logos are unmistakable, but the rest is again the same as the Commodore VF . The dominant feature is certainly the display of the MyLink multimedia system and a pair of alarm clocks in separate tubes. The sporty mood is enhanced by anatomical leather seats and contrasting red stitching.

But the most important thing is hidden under the hood. The eight-cylinder jewel of the LS3 series with a volume of 6.2 liters will offer up to 421 hp and 562 Nm, which the 6-speed automatic transmission with paddles under the steering wheel will transfer to the rear wheels. The automaker did not specify the specific dynamic characteristics, but according to the press release, the sprint to 96 km/h (60 m/h) will not take more than 5 seconds.

The modified chassis, which consists of a MacPherson-type front axle and a multi -link rear axle, ensures reliable power transmission. Behind the 19-inch wheels with Bridgestone tires , the SS hides Brembo four-piston sports brakes with 355 mm ventilated discs. That driving this car will be a pleasure is confirmed by the fact that Chevrolet managed to achieve an almost ideal weight distribution in the ratio of 50:50.
