Chevrolet Spark EV – The production version will be presented in Geneva

Following its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year, Chevrolet 's electric minicar will be presented to a European audience for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The vehicle will be on sale in selected European markets from 2014.

At the heart of the Spark EV 's drive system is a GM-engineered permanent magnet electric motor. The high torque of 542 Nm , which is available almost immediately after the start of the electric motor, gives the small electric car extraordinary dynamics. The Spark EV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 8.5 seconds. The power of the electric motor is over 100 kW .

The Spark EV is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of over 20 kWh, equipped with an active liquid cooling and heating system. Thanks to this sophisticated technology, the Spark EV will be one of the electric cars with the longest range in its class. The battery pack is designed to allow both alternating current charging and accelerated direct current charging.

Accelerated DC charging allows the battery pack to be charged to 80 percent of maximum capacity in approximately 20 minutes. In addition, the battery system allows several accelerated DC charges per day. Charging with alternating current from a regular 230 V household electrical outlet takes 6 to 8 hours. Part of the standard equipment is a power cable suitable for both charging methods.

The Spark EV has a distinctive and expressive look. In the elegant interior, the most prominent element is the instrument cluster on the steering column, which consists of one of two large 7-inch (17.8 cm) color LCD monitors. The second monitor is located on the center console and serves as a control interface for the infotainment, ventilation and heating system, as well as the display of energy usage data.

The Spark EV will come standard with Chevrolet's MyLink radio connectivity system, which allows you to connect a compatible smartphone and control it via a high-resolution touchscreen monitor. The system will support various specific applications, allowing you to use smartphone-based navigation and receive Internet radio stations anywhere in the world. The system also includes a reversing camera to facilitate parking.
