The new Octavia Combi RS will share the underpinnings with the Golf GTI

The third generation Skoda Octavia was presented at the beginning of December last year in Mladá Boleslav, where we were naturally present. We were then invited to test drive the new Octavia all the way to Portugal, read more in our first impressions . But these days test prototypes of the Octavia Combi , the modernized Superb and now the Octavia Combi RS are driving on the roads .

In the spy photos, note mainly the large air intake in the front bumper and the rear diffuser with trapezoidal exhaust tips on the sides. Thanks to these elements, it can be clearly determined that the new generation Octavia Combi RS is hiding under the camouflage. Most buyers considered the previous generation Octavia RS to be a family-oriented version of the VW Golf GTI . They were not far from the truth, as both cars shared the same chassis and technology.

It will be similar for the new generation, as the three-door Octavia RS , whether liftback or station wagon, will be built on the extended MQB platform , which also has the seventh generation Volkswagen Golf . The new Octavia RS should have the same engine as the upcoming Golf GTI . This means that it will be a 2.0 -liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a power of 220 horsepower and a torque of 350 Nm. The engine will be mated to a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It is no secret that Skoda is also preparing an Octavia RS powered by a diesel engine.
