Acura MDX
The American-Japanese Acura is showing the pre-production form of the new generation mid-size SUV MDX in Detroit. It has grown a bit more and is mainly equipped with state-of-the-art features such as a collision warning system or a lane departure warning system. In terms of design, it follows on from the brand's current models, such as the luxury sedan RLX . Under the hood of the production version, look for a modern six-cylinder 3.5 in combination with front or all-wheel drive.
BMW 320i
Even BMW wants to reduce the price of its models – that's why there is the 320i version , which is a new entry-level model in the range of sedans or station wagons of the 3 series. Under the hood, it has a two-liter TwinPower four-cylinder gasoline engine with an output of 182 hp and a torque of 271 Nm. The engine can be combined with an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual, as well as with rear or all-wheel drive. The basic price for the USA is set at 33,445 dollars (approx. 643,000 CZK).
Destiny ZR1
Bob Lutz , a former high-ranking GM official's name has faded somewhat in recent years to resurface in Detroit. In cooperation with Gilbert Villereal, he founded the car company VL-Automotive , which wants to produce cars under the Destino brand. The first swallow is the ZR1 sedan , which is based on the Fisker Karma. And while the appearance of the novelty received only a few retouches on the front and rear, everything is different in the engine compartment. Don't look for a hybrid there anymore, but an eight-cylinder LS9 with a capacity of 647 horsepower from the Corvette ZR1. The company has not yet announced the price.
Chrysler 300S Turbine Edition
In 1963, Chrysler introduced the now iconic Turbine concept . And since this little car is celebrating its 50th birthday this year, Chrysler decided to build such a small monument. The latter takes the form of a special Chrysler 300S in the color Turbine Bronze , which contrasts with the black roof. In addition to the color, the concept also has a new grille, darker front and rear lights, a rear spoiler, black window frames and 22-inch wheels. Production of the model is not planned.
Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG S & 4Matic
The four-door coupe and station wagon of the CLS series in the AMG version have been expanded. The classic version with a 557 hp 5.5 V8 engine can now also be purchased with 4Matic all-wheel drive , which has improved dynamics but also worsened fuel consumption. Much more interesting, however, is the introduction of the S version . It offers the same engine as the "base" model, but here expect 585 horsepower. You also cannot choose between two types of drive – there is only four-wheel drive. In addition to the engine, Mercedes improved the steering, shifting and installed the AMG Ride Control chassis for a better driving experience. The price should be announced in Geneva.
Nissan Resonance
A concept representing the future form of the Murano . This is the concept of the sporty SUV Resonance in a nutshell. In terms of design, the distinctive front mask, arrow-shaped headlights and, above all, the connection of the side window line with the rear one, which makes it look as if the roof is optically floating, are sure to impress. The interior is particularly impressive with a completely digital center console. Under the hood of the concept is said to be a hybrid system consisting of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors.
Tesla Model X
Facelifts are more common in mass-produced cars. American Tesla, however, transformed this claim a bit and modernized the concept SUV called Model X. It received a white body color , new alloy wheels and, above all, a changed interior . It will offer a larger touch screen instead of the center panel, which is located higher and closer to the steering wheel than the previous version. The rest of the car remained the same as last year's prototype.
VIA X-Truck
And Bob Lutz for the second time! In addition to the faster Karma, the "Father of the Volt" flirts with an electric drive for large pickups, vans and SUVs. Therefore, his other company VIA Motors presents the X-Truck concept, which was developed in cooperation with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company . Based on the Chevrolet Silverado, the X-truck is powered by two VR-300 electric motors that use the services of 24 kWh water-cooled lithium-ion batteries, which use a 5.3 V8 as a generator for a change.
Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line
Volkswagen's medium-sized SUV wants to be sporty. At least that's what the R-Line version suggests, which offers 19-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlights with LEDs, a rear spoiler and a sports chassis. The interior offers newly painted surfaces on the dashboard and in the doors, a sports steering wheel, R-Line logos and a new audio system. The R-Line version, which is based on the SEL trim , will be offered exclusively with a turbocharged two-liter in combination with all-wheel or front-wheel drive.
Volkswagen Touareg R-Line
The R-Line version also received a large SUV in the brand's offer. However, unlike the Tiguan, the Touareg received 20-inch wheels, new exhaust tips, a modified front bumper and also new door sill extensions. A sports chassis is a matter of course. The interior will offer aluminum pedals, a sports steering wheel, R-Line logos and newly painted surfaces on the center console and door panels. The basis of the new version is the Lux equipment , while the model can have a 3.6 VR6 petrol engine or a 3.0 TDI Clean Diesel diesel unit under the hood. Both engines are combined with an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
