Infiniti Q50 2014 – the successor to the G-Series in detail!

Over the weekend, we witnessed the first photos of the new Japanese sedan Infiniti Q50 being leaked. Only today, the automaker issued an official press release about the successor to the current G-Series model. Once on the market, the Q50 will compete with, for example, the new Lexus IS , Cadillac ATS or BMW 3 Series .

President of Infiniti , Johan de Nyyschen, stated: "We have launched Infiniti on a bold journey these days. The new direction of the car company is built on the foundations of the past and shows a clear vision for the future. And it all starts with the new Infiniti Q50 , which showcases the design, performance and technology for all new generations of current models". In addition to the completely new designation Q50, we can also notice on the new addition to the family that the design is based on the Essence concept (year 2009).

The interior will also offer new styling, although it is not immediately obvious, as it follows on from the outgoing Géčko . The main innovation in the cabin will be the Infiniti InTouch dual-screen communication system, and the central analog clock is no longer visible on the center console.

In the North American market, the Infiniti Q50 will have under the hood a 3.7 -liter six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 328 horsepower or a new hybrid system that includes a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine (296 horsepower) and an electric motor with a capacity of 50 kW . The total output of the hybrid system is 354 horsepower. Both powertrains will be paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission that will send power to the rear or all wheels . Infiniti has assured its clientele that additional engines will arrive when the model enters the global market later this year.
