Volkswagen previews a new SUV

For Volkswagen , the American market is very important, which is shown by the production of models designed exclusively for this continent. Such include the specially modified Passat or MPV Routan . Soon the Americans will see a large SUV .

Its harbinger is the CrossBlue concept , which the automaker is presenting in Detroit. According to official sources, the large SUV is to be placed above the Tiguan, but below the Touareg . However, it definitely shouldn't be its cheaper variant, even if the body design says otherwise. You can recognize the Touareg at first sight in the front part. The rear part is already more original, as well as the rendering of the profile with significantly bulging fenders.

The space around the driver is dominated by the large screen of the multimedia system . Below it, you will find only a few rotary controls and a gear selector. The wooden decor that stretches along the entire length of the interior is also great. Passengers who will sit in the back of the car have screens in the armrests in front of them. A total of 4 passengers can thus occupy themselves (a total of 7 seats will be available in serial form).

CrossBlue stands on the latest modular MQB platform . Thanks to it, the SUV has a length of 4986 mm, a width of 2014 mm and a height of 1732 mm. The owner is therefore sure that you will not overlook his car.

It is powered by a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a TDI Clean diesel with a capacity of 193 hp, one electric motor at the front with a capacity of 55 hp and one electric motor at the rear with a capacity of 116 hp. Power is transmitted to all wheels by a DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission . The dynamics of the model are definitely not bad – acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and a maximum speed of 204 km/h.

However, ecology was also thought of, which is why the SUV can use purely electric motion. The condition is a full charge of the 9.8 kWh lithium-ion batteries and a distance of no more than 22.5 km. Then you would have to connect a classic diesel as well. The maximum speed is also limited to 121 km/h. However, if you drive on diesel, which will be supplemented by electric horses, you can travel up to 1064 km!
