The French car manufacturer Peugeot currently supplies the world with a whole range of design and technically interesting cars. If you look at the brand's overall portfolio, you can't help but choose at least one car that doesn't meet the desired requirements.
However, the compact hatchback 207 in its current form has been warming up under the spotlights of salons for too long, so the time has come for an extensive facelift, associated with a renumbering following the example of its larger siblings. So there is a new competitor of the VW concern and other B-segment cars in the world, which will be called the 208.
Compared to its predecessor, the Peugeot 208 is larger, more powerful and lighter. The current trend inevitably demands this combination, which is related to the weight of the basic variant of only 975 kilograms. The lower coefficient of air resistance plays a role in the reduction of combined consumption, while the Czech nation of cottagers will appreciate the extra 5 centimeters for passengers in the back and a more voluminous luggage compartment.
Every new generation of a mass-market car immediately falls into the clutches of eco-maniacs and even institutes investigating environmental friendliness. The new 208 is very well aware of this and therefore emits an average of 34 grams less harmful substances into the air for every kilometer driven. The biggest benefit is the introduction of advanced e-HDi technology, which is expected to be available for all diesel variants. Fans of gasoline can look forward to the option of choosing new three-cylinder units 1.0 VTi and 1.2 VTi.
The new Peugeot 208 will be available in Europe next spring. However, UK customers will have to wait until the summer.
