Skoda officially started serial production of the new Octavia model yesterday in Mladá Boleslav. The third generation of this bestseller sets new benchmarks in its segment in terms of spaciousness, functionality, safety and comfort features, design and price/use value ratio. In the segment of compact cars, the Skoda Octavia is in a class by itself. From the end of January 2013, the new model will have its sales premiere in the first European countries.
Due to the production of the third generation Skoda Octavia , the car company started one of the most extensive modernization and expansion projects of the main plant in Mladá Boleslav. The aim of these measures was to expand the production line for the Octavia and Rapid models, the capacity of which is gradually increasing from 800 to 1200 cars per day. In addition to the new generation Octavia and Skoda Rapid, the car manufacturer in Mladá Boleslav also produces the Fabia model.
A number of measures were implemented before the start of production of the new model. As part of the expansion of production capacities, a new welding shop and fully automatic painting of the interior of the body were put into operation. At the beginning of 2013, the car manufacturer in Mladá Boleslav will put into operation a modern and ecological pressing line.
With the new generation of Skoda Octavia , the Czech carmaker will start the next stage of the biggest model offensive in the company's history. Until 2015, the manufacturer will introduce a new or redesigned model every six months on average. With this, the automaker wants to consistently continue the established growth course. The goal is to increase the worldwide number of cars sold to at least 1.5 million per year. The new Skoda Octavia is the backbone of this strategy.
