New BMW 1 Series – First official images

The first pictures of the new BMW 1 Series have leaked into the world of the Internet. However, it will not have its official premiere until the International Motor Show in Frankfurt.

At first glance, the new number one is more distinctive than its predecessor. The designers inspired it with the shapes of its siblings, the 5 GT and the 7 Series. The rest of the shapes are just a kind of evolution of the existing model. But the unification of the design is more noticeable here than it was before.

The new BMW 1 Series stands on a chassis with a larger wheelbase, which should be recognized in the cabin by a greater amount of desired space for rear passengers. You will now also find more space in the luggage compartment. For now, more detailed information about the interior can only be seen from the photos. The number one, however, will get better materials and a 6.5 or optionally an 8.8 inch iDrive display. Collision warning systems or maximum speed detection will take care of your safety. Internet connection via mobile phone should also be available.

The engine range will include a turbocharged petrol unit with a power range from 100 kW to 185 kW. In the offer of diesel versions, you can choose from performance variants of the turbocharged two-liter diesel. It is available with outputs from 85 kW to 135 kW. Regardless of engine choice, it will be able to choose between a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.

As part of the BMW EfficientDynamics strategy, all variants will be equipped with a Start/Stop system and a brake energy recovery system. This should ensure consumption in the range of 4.3 to 5.8 l/100 km for all versions of the small BMW.
