Skoda students produced an interesting concept

Among many enthusiasts, Felicia Fun still has a cult status to this day, mainly because of the concept, which at the time had no competition. Fifteen years after the end of production of the "Beach Felicia", the students of Skoda Academy created its spiritual successor based on the third generation Fabia.

The most interesting change to the FUNstar is certainly the loading area with aluminum sheeting, replacing the rear part of the regular Fabia. Yes, unlike the Felicia Fun, this concept pickup truck is strictly a two-seater. In addition, the B-pillar was extended for maximum rigidity, the partition between the cabin and the bed contains a window and the inside is upholstered with leather. But back to the body, which is painted in the shade of gray from the Octavia RS, combined with a white upper half and green details. The 18-inch Gemini wheels in a grey-green combination also come from the fast Octavia.

Although the shape of the rear lights corresponds to a regular Fabia, they are manually assembled from 320 LEDs . Many of us still remember the green neon lights under the car , which match the green-colored LED daytime running lights, even from the days of "frying" Need for Speed. Although there are two intake holes on the hood, don't expect any wildness. The drive is provided by a conventional 1.2 TSI, painted in white and green, in combination with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. Although the original plans included the installation of a larger 18-litre TSI , it simply cannot fit under the hood of the Fabia.

The interior, with standard sports seats and decors in white and green, was not left out of interest either. They are the same shades as on the body and in the engine compartment. After opening the door with otherwise very stylish fillings, the Skoda logo is projected onto the ground. Also non-standard is the flattened three-spoke steering wheel with green faces in the place where the standard Fabia has buttons for, for example, audio controls. And as a proper concept from young people, FUNstar cannot miss the 1400-watt audio with amplifier and subwoofer from the new Superb.

You can see the result of the work of two young women and twenty-one young men with your own eyes at the meeting of GTI cars at the Wörthersee lake in Austria . This year it takes place from May 13 to 16.
